Law enforcement on special watch for traffic violations on U.S. 30, 67

Law enforcement agencies serving Clinton County will conduct a multi-jurisdictional enforcement project April 25-26.

The area of concentration will be focused on U.S. 30, U.S. 67, Mill Creek Parkway and roads adjacent to those major arteries.

Officers from the Iowa State Patrol, Iowa Department of Transportation, Clinton County Sheriff’s Department and Camanche, Clinton and DeWitt police departments will look for alcohol-related violations, seat belt and child restraint violations, speed, stop sign and other violations.

Society gains law firm's historic safe, original lease

Representatives from Krieg DeVault, a law firm in Schererville, commemorated nearly 100 years of legal service in Northwest Indiana by presenting its historic office safe to the Hammond Historical Society.

The safe originally belonged to a predecessor firm, Galvin Galvin & Leeney, which merged with Krieg DeVault in 2002.

The historical society also was given the original copy of "Lease No. 1" dated Nov. 1, 1925, when Tim Galvin Sr. and his brother Frank Galvin and their partners became the first tenants in the then newly constructed nine-story office building in downtown Hammond.

The building was known originally as the First Trust & Savings Bank Building, later as the Bank Calumet Building and now is owned by First Midwest Bank.

Tim Galvin Sr. began practicing in Valparaiso in 1916.

Patrick Galvin, his son and a current partner in Krieg DeVault, is pleased by the donation.

"On behalf of the Galvin family and the law firm of Krieg DeVault, I am pleased that this fine old safe and the building lease from decades ago can be preserved as part of the history of Hammond and Northwest Indiana," he said in a news release.

Krieg DeVault, a law firm of 130 professionals providing legal services to businesses and individuals throughout Indiana and the nation, has offices in Schererville, Chicago, Indianapolis, Carmel and Noblesville.

Pet Sterilization Is Now The L.A. Law

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 27, 2008
(AP) It's now the law, pet owners who live in Los Angeles must have their dogs and cats sterilized by the time the animals are 4 months old.

The ordinance, signed Tuesday by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, takes effect Oct. 1 and is aimed at reducing and eventually eliminating the thousands of animals that are euthanized in the city's animal shelters every year.

"We will, sooner rather than later, become a no-kill city and this is the greatest step in that direction," Councilman Tony Cardenas, who co-authored the bill, said as he held a kitten at a City Hall news conference.

Another of the ordinance's co-authors, Councilman Richard Alarcon, brought his two pet Chihuahuas to the event to be neutered in a van operated by the city.

The ordinance brings the nation's second-largest city into line with about a dozen of its neighbors that have similar laws.

It does exempt some animals, including those that have competed in shows or sporting competitions, guide dogs, animals used by police agencies and those belonging to professional breeders.

The average pet owner, however, must have their dog or cat spayed or neutered by the time it reaches 4 months of age (as late as 6 months with a letter from a veterinarian).

First time offenders will receive information on subsidized sterilization services and be given an additional 60 days. If they still fail to comply they could be fined $100 and ordered to serve eight hours of community service. A subsequent offense could result in a $500 fine or 40 hours of community service.

People with older unneutered pets and newcomers to the city with animals also have to obey the law.

Los Angeles animal shelters took in 50,000 cats and dogs last year and euthanized approximately 15,000 at a cost of $2 million, according to city officials.

Longtime animal-sterilization advocate Bob Barker of "Price is Right" fame pushed for the law's adoption and was among those at Tuesday's news conference.

"The next time that you hear me say, 'Help control the pet population, have your pet spayed or neutered,' I can add, 'It's the law in Los Angeles,"' a jubilant Barker said.

Calif. Lawmaker Seeks Law to Ban Lapdogs in Cars

All Things Considered, April 24, 2008 · Britney Spears and Paris Hilton have done it, and so have many lesser-known Californians: They've tooled around town with pets on their laps.

Now, a California lawmaker is looking to get Fido out of the driver's seat.

State Assemblyman Bill Maze (R-Visalia) wants to ban pet owners from driving with animals on their laps. Last week, a bill that would do just that passed the state's Assembly Committee on Transportation. The state Assembly may take up the measure, which Maze wrote, next week.

Maze says pets are a distraction that could put motorists at risk, much like talking on a cell phone. In July, it will be illegal for the more than 30 million drivers in California to talk on a cell phone without a hands-free device.

If his bill passes, drivers who are caught with their Chihuahuas or calicos unrestrained will have pay a penalty. The bill does not specify how drivers should keep their pets in place.

"If you've got a live animal, which you're not able to control, and that thing gets between you and the steering wheel or underneath your brake pedal, you've got a problem," Maze says.

Not everyone is thrilled at the prospect of legislation, including Johnnie Bonds, who hangs out at a hilltop dog park in Culver City with his Chihuahua mix Shorty. He says he doesn't even like being told he has to wear a seatbelt, let alone his dog.

"The government should get out of my business, you know what I mean?" Bonds says. "Let me live my life my way, with what little freedom we have left."

Patrick Guilfoyle, who owns Double Dog Dare Ya, an upscale boarding facility in Burbank, says people don't realize how dangerous it can be to leave their pets unbuckled.

But at the same time, he understands how hard it can be to resist a freedom-loving pet's pleading eyes.

"They don't understand that dogs are at risk just the way a child would be at risk if they were unrestrained in a car," Guilfoyle says. "I am truly as guilty as the rest of them. I insist that they stay in the back seat, but that's as far as I've gotten."

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Los Angeles has been lobbying for years to get the state Legislature to pass measures along the lines of Maze's bill.

"They can become projectile missiles during a short stop," says Madeleine Bernstein, president of the SPCA branch. "They can cause an accident. They can impair your ability to react to an accident. They can distract you. And they can get hurt."

If the legislation becomes law, Bernstein says, tails might droop a bit at being confined, but pet parents will have to draw on their inner strength.

"If you love your pet enough to take them with you, then love them just a little bit more," she says. "And restrain them when you take them with you in the car."

A report from a leading association of black lawyers gives 18 of Chicago's biggest law firms poor to failing grades on their representation of minority attorneys locally.

Holland & Knight received a score of 38.7 out of a possible 100 from the National Bar Association, the worst performance in the survey. The firm has seven minority attorneys out of 132 lawyers and one minority equity partner out of 38.

Locke Liddell was the second-worst performer, scoring 44.4 with 13 minority attorneys out of 161 and one equity partner out of 78.

The report found that 27 percent of the firms have no black equity partners, and two firms, Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal and Katten Muchen Rosenmann, did not have any equity partners of color.

The report provides the legal community with a tool for assessing its diversity track record and will encourage and assist firms in increasing minority representation, said attorney Daryl Washington, co-chairman of the association's Diversity Task Force.

Holland & Knight's score is not reflective of the firm as a whole, said Tiffani Lee, a member of the firm's diversity council and a partner. She said that in the Minority Law Journal's 2007 diversity scorecard of 255 leading U.S. law firms, the firm ranked No. 2 nationally in the number of minority partners and Hispanic attorneys and was in the top 35 percent overall.

"Diversity is very important to Holland & Knight, and we're striving to improve it in every office," Lee said.

Janet Love, equity partner with what is now Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell, said the firm is working to improve its performance.

The association sent surveys to 26 local firms. Eight did not participate: Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom; Jones Day; Latham & Watkins; Neal, Gerber & Eisenberg; Vedder Price; Chapman & Cutler, Bell Boyd & Lloyd, and McGuire Woods.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush will reluctantly give Congress one more week to wrap up the new U.S. farm law, already six months overdue, the White House said on Friday, calling for crop subsidy reforms.
House and Senate negotiators are deadlocked over how to pay for a $10 billion spending increase for the farm law and how to whittle down a tax package backed by the Senate.

The White House said Bush will sign a bill that keeps agricultural programs in place through April 25. Lawmakers say they are close to agreement on the new, omnibus farm law that would cost $600 billion over 10 years. Public nutrition programs like food stamps would receive two-thirds of the money.

"The president will sign the extension," said White House spokesman Scott Stanzel. "We remain disappointed the Congress hasn't been able to achieve an agreement on a reform-minded farm bill."

Along with stricter crop subsidy rules, the White House says the new law should not raise taxes or resort to overspending. One White House proposal is to deny crop subsidies to anyone with an adjusted gross income above $500,000 a year. The cutoff now is $2.5 million AGI.

The one-week extension was needed because a one-month extension of agricultural programs expired on Friday. Without the extension, the farm program would revert to 1949 rules that impose land controls and set unworkably high support prices.

Negotiators were scheduled to meet Friday for the first time in two days. They exchanged offers in private on Thursday for the tax package and "offsets" for the spending increase.

Senior House negotiators suggested cuts totaling $1 billion over 10 years in the "direct" payments of $5.2 billion guaranteed annually to grain, cotton and soybean growers. Direct payments are criticized as frivolous in an era of record-high farmgate crop prices.

They also proposed $500 million in additional funding for nutrition, for a total increase of $10 billion in the bill. At present, the bill also would boost spending on land stewardship, specialty crops and biofuels while trimming crop supports, crop insurance and agricultural research.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President George W. Bush reluctantly gave Congress one more week to wrap up the new U.S. farm law, already six months overdue, and the White House called for stricter crop subsidy rules.
House and Senate negotiators are deadlocked over how to pay for a $10-billion spending increase for the farm law and whether to include a $2.4-billion Senate tax package. They blamed each other on Friday for the lack of progress.

If there is no breakthrough, said Senate Agriculture Committee chairman Tom Harkin, he will order votes on Tuesday to settle the matter. Harkin is in charge of the talks.

"We'll see if people really want to bring the farm bill down to have a tax package," said Harkin, Iowa Democrat. "At some point, it has to end."

By the end of next week, Harkin told reporters, the farm bill will be wrapped up or there will be a decision to either extend the 2002 farm law or to let the farm program revert to 1949 law, with land controls and high grain subsidy rates.

Congress began drafting the bill 13 months ago. Estimated to cost $600 billion over 10 years, it would boost spending on public nutrition, land stewardship, biofuels and specialty crops while reducing outlays for farm supports and agricultural research. Nutrition would get two-thirds of all spending.

All sides say the $10-billion spending increase is vital to assuring passage of the farm bill because it would put money into popular programs. But the House and Senate disagree over how to pay for it and on the tax package, which some senators say is essential to success.

As a stopgap, Bush signed a bill that keeps agricultural programs running until April 25. A one-month extension expired on Friday.

"We remain disappointed the Congress hasn't been able to achieve an agreement on a reform-minded farm bill," said White House spokesman Scott Stenzel.

One White House proposal is to deny crop subsidies to anyone with an adjusted gross income above $500,000 a year, compared to the current limit of $2.5 million AGI. The White House says the new law should not raise taxes or use budget gimmicks to hide overspending.

When negotiators met on Friday, the Senate presented a revised package of 15 tax cuts worth $2.4 billion. They range from faster tax write-offs of race horses to incentives to developing cellulose as a feedstock for fuel ethanol.

Offsetting the tax breaks would be a reduction in the ethanol blender tax credit, limits on using farm losses to reduce income taxes, unspecified farm-related tax reforms and an optional self-employment tax.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi offered $1 billion in tax breaks and House negotiators suggested offsets that included a $1 billion cut in commodity programs, possibly "direct" payments, and $2 billion for an agricultural disaster fund, half the amount targeted in a House-Senate "framework" for the bill.

"The problem is we still don't have offsets that are agreed to by everybody," said House Agriculture Committee chairman Collin Peterson, Minnesota Democrat.

Sen. Kent Conrad, North Dakota Democrat, said the House was not living up to the agreement for a $10 billion increase and exaggerated the cost of the tax package to try to kill it.

Q: Michael, many times during your teleclasses and seminars, you say "abundance is a feeling." Can you elaborate on that statement – what do you mean it’s a feeling?

First one of the important things that we’ve come to learn with the Law of Attraction is that we can duplicate feelings. In other words, just through the words I use I can stimulate somebody or discourage them. In short, we can create feelings within ourselves and within others by what we say and what we think.

Abundance is a feeling. Do you ever notice how excited you feel when you know you have a check coming or when you know you’re getting an income tax refund? The excitement you’re experiencing is the feeling of abundance. We feel abundant knowing that it’s coming, even before we put it in the bank. So a question to ask is, "Do I feel abundant knowing that I’m receiving some money or do I feel abundant only when I put it in my bank account?" For most people, they feel abundant knowing that it’s coming. It has nothing to do with whether they have it or not.

I personally used the Law of Attraction to attract my perfect business to me after watching the DVD the Secret.

The Law of Rhythm And Your Home-Based Business

The Law of Rhythm states that everything goes through cycles. Ocean tides go in and out. The moon's lunar phases follow a 29-day cycle, and the earth's yearly revolution around the sun creates seasons.

For some countries, this might mean four seasons consisting of spring, summer, fall and winter. For others, it might mean wet, monsoon or dry seasons.

During each of these cycles or seasons, only certain things can happen. For example, you cannot reap your harvest in spring because you have just planted the seeds. They have to germinate and grow.

You can't plant seeds in the winter because this is the dormant time -- a time for rest, revitalization and planning for your next season of growth.

Once you understand the Law of Rhythm, it becomes easier to understand that you can't plant a seed and expect to reap the rewards immediately. Everything in nature is a part of a dance and you just need to know where you are in that dance.

So, where are you in the season of your business?

Are you deep in the middle of winter, planning for the growing season ahead?

Are you in spring, sowing your seeds for an abundant harvest?

Or, are you enjoying summer and fall, reaping the rewards of your hard work and smart planning?

Many entrepreneurs interfere with the Law of Rhythm by trying to force growth prematurely. Each and every time this creates dismal results.

It's almost like planting an acorn to grow a mighty oak tree, then digging up the acorn every few weeks to see if anything is happening. The tree will never grow because it hasn't been given the freedom to align with the Law of Rhythm.

Work in harmony with the Law of Rhythm, don't stand in its way, and you will reap a fruitful harvest when the time is right.

Bush Signs Farm Law Extension

(AP/WASHINGTON) — President Bush on Friday signed a one-week extension of current farm law as the House and Senate continued to argue over how to pay for a multibillion-dollar farm bill.

The measure, passed by the House on Wednesday and the Senate on Thursday, will keep the farm program going until April 25.

Bush has threatened to veto the House and Senate farm bills, which would cost roughly $280 billion over five years to expand agriculture and nutrition programs. He says they are too expensive and would not sufficiently cut subsidy payments to wealthy farmers in a time of robust farm prices.

Deputy Agriculture Secretary Charles Conner had said on Wednesday that Bush would only sign the extension if it appeared negotiators had made significant progress on the bill, and he said the administration had not yet seen that progress.

Negotiations are in disarray as lawmakers from the House and Senate squabble over how to pay for the legislation.

Reasons for Failure in Practicing the Law of Attraction and How to Make it Work:

There are many factors that could come into play if you find yourself not being able to utilize the Law of Attraction in your life. Take a look at this list and see if there is anything you might be missing or need to work on.

No Goals: If you do not write down your goals, how will you remember them? You must write down your goals. This action in itself can help you understand where you stand now and where you want to be. This is an easy thing to correct and help you make the Law of Attraction work for you. If you simply try to remember your goals without writing them down you will find that they may not manifest physically for you. Writing them down is the first physical action of bringing your goals to realization.

Forgetting Goals: Another mistake some people make with the Law of Attraction is writing down their goals and leaving them somewhere in storage where they simply gather dust. You will most likely forget your goals in the first place. In order for your goals to bring you the inspiration and determination, you need to always keep them in mind, you need to read them regularly, and bond with them consistently on an emotional basis.

Taking No Action: What will happen with your goals and your dreams if you take no action? Nothing! Your goals will remain goals, and your dreams will remain dreams. You must take action on your goals to achieve your dreams. You must put in the work necessary to achieve your dreams, and accomplish each goal you have. Using the Law of Attraction you are changing your lifestyle in the way you behave, in the way you talk to yourself, in the way you think, and in the way you act. All of these things are a way of changing your particular lifestyle. This can be frightening for some, or difficult to change old habits. However, if you take no action towards your goals and dreams they will remain just that. If you want to change your life you must change with it. You must be the first person to say I want a better life for myself, and then take action to make those changes. Only you can take action to achieve your goals and dreams.

Thinking Negatively: Sometimes the negative can seem to creep in your mind no matter how hard you try to think positively. There is always a reason for this, and you can change your way of thinking to think positively. Sometimes negative thoughts can come from fear, or from low self-esteem, or from the belief that you do not deserve anything positive in your life. None of these things are true! You must think past these negative thoughts even if you are just faking it in the beginning. Think positively even if you do not believe it. Eventually, your subconscious will begin working with your conscious and you will believe these positive thoughts. That is all it takes. Well, that and a lot of patience with yourself. If you have thought this way for a long time it may be difficult in the beginning. However, you can accomplish what you want in life, you do deserve it, and you should not be afraid to make your life better for yourself! You can do it! You can achieve what you want in your life, but negative thinking has no place in your goals and dreams.

You can use the law of attraction to make your Network Marketing highly effective for you. You can't touch the Law of Attraction, you can't taste it or smell it or hear it, but it can be the most powerful tool that you have for your successful Network Marketing.

Law of Attraction Accelerator - Think Yourself into Wealth and Prosperity

Had anybody told me that I can think myself into wealth and prosperity, I would have laughed it off as a joke. But not after I read Science of Getting Rich. In fact, right from the first day we become conscious, the message is loud and clear and almost drilled into our sub conscious that we are born rich and prosperous. It is only that we ignore all signals pointing towards prosperity and choose the path of drudgery, which is a pity. As humans we are born into abundance and joy but we lose our way into despair. The only way to restore the equilibrium of nature is to think our way into prosperity. There is a difference between thinking about prosperity as a distant dream and thinking and living in abundance in the present moment. Think you are already rich or in love or whatever you wish to be and it will turn into reality.

I can hear you say, "It is very easy to tell others to start living their dreams. Here I am up to my neck in debt and creditors breathing down my neck. How do you expect me to think, even for a moment, that I am rich and prosperous? More than anything, I only feel despair." Let me tell you this. Frankly, I also felt the same. But this is where the Law of Attraction comes into force. Can't you see that more you think of debt, more you are going to sink into it? The universe is neutral. If you send positive signals out into space, they get magnified and come back with renewed energy and force. When you are thinking about debt, the universe magnifies and reinforces debt. You are forcing nature to do your bidding.

In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill says, "Decide what you want, write it on a card, carry the card with you, read it as often as possible every day, at least every morning when you get up and before you to go to bed at night." This is as good an advice as any. You have to break out of the old mold. Just imagine your thoughts of debt and misery as old clothes and throw them away. Create a powerful mental image in your mind of throwing the old clothes far away and then don new clothes, nice and silky, full of positive energy. Carry this spanking new picture with you wherever you go. I promise that your life would be transformed magically.

If you read Part One of this article you know that the Law of Attraction is one of the most powerful laws of the Universe. Our thoughts are energy and like a magnet, we attract and are attracted to people who are a perfect match for what we are thinking and "feeling" on a conscious or unconscious level.

If you are attracting the same kind of person that you don't want, you are likely focusing your thoughts and energy on what you don't want, rather than on what you do want. Much of this is done unconsciously. You don't even know it's happening. If you repeatedly attract the wrong person that is your clue that you need to change your thoughts.

So, how do you change your mental programming and begin attracting your right and perfect partner? Here are the basic steps:

Have A Written Goal

"¢ Set the goal or intention. Write it down.

"¢ Write down the characteristics of your ideal partner (Age, education, economic level, height, hobbies, everything you want).

"¢ Read your list every day. Your mind must have repetition in order to change the neural connections.

"¢ Believe you can have it and that you deserve it.

Visualize Yourself With Your New Partner

"¢ Your mind thinks in pictures so make a mental movie.

"¢ Be sure to put yourself in the movie.

"¢ Think of what it feels like to be with your partner.

"¢ See yourself holding hands, cuddling, making love, doing things that you enjoy.

"¢ Do your visualization every morning and evening when your mind is most receptive.

Create A Vision Board

"¢ Find photo images of happy couples that seem to have the kind of relationship you want.

"¢ Include photos of the house you want to live in and doing things you want to do together.

"¢ Place your vision board where you can see it every day.

"¢ You can spice it up even more by using Feng Shui on your vision board. Put your photos in your relationship corner, which is the upper right corner of your board.

Create Powerful Affirmations

"¢ Make sure your affirmations are positive.

"¢ State your affirmations in the present tense.

"¢ Repeat your affirmations several times a day, especially in the morning and evening

"¢ Repeat your affirmations when you catch yourself thinking negatively about your relationship situation.

Ignite Your Passion

"¢ It is your feelings that attract things to you faster.

"¢ Feel it as you say your affirmations & do your visualization.

"¢ How does it feel to be with your partner?

BE The Right Partner

"¢ What specific qualities do you want your new partner to see in you? Make a list.

"¢ What do you need to change about yourself to prepare for your new partner?

"¢ What can you do to love yourself more?

"¢ What can you do to love your partner more?

"¢ Practice being the kind of person you want to become.

Take Action

"¢ What are your passions? Start doing things now that you are passionate about

"¢ Where can you meet people who share your passions?

"¢ Keep a gratitude journal. You get more of the things in which you are grateful.

"¢ Be grateful for all of the relationships you have right now.

"¢ Put yourself in places where you can meet new people.

"¢ Expect that you will meet the right person. Erase all doubts.

An important part of this process is you believing that you deserve the kind of person you want to attract. Some people have issues with self-worth. Maintaining a deeply held belief that you don't deserve a certain type of person will prevent you from attracting it regardless of how great you look, or any other physical attribute you might have.

The next time you're looking to attract your right and perfect partner, take a look inside your mind. That is exactly where you will find it.

Bob Proctor, the famous author of Science of Getting Rich is fond of saying, "Most people are not going after what they want. Even some of the most serious goal seekers and goal setters, are going after what they think they can get."

Now, this is a very profound thought. Human beings like us perceive things at different levels. Most of us take a cue from what we can see visually. We read that so and so has become rich by working hard and we think, The Secret lies in working hard. Some book says one should buy shares to become rich. We go and buy shares and burn our fingers and feel bitter about it for the rest of our lives. What I want to tell these people is that if you do the same things again and again, you get the same results, again and again.

In Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill said, "An educated person is not necessarily a person with an abundance of general or specialized knowledge. An educated person is a person who has so developed the faculties of their mind, that they can develop anything or acquires anything that they want, or it's equivalent, without violating the rights of others." What we want to do is start to understand these faculties. Perception, the will, reason, imagination, intuition and memory. These are higher faculties. So, through imagination we want to build a picture of what we want.

Now, when you build a picture, make it really big. Nothing like you has ever seen before. Let your imagination fly. And leave the baggage of your past behind and focus on the future. What will happen if you only look in the rear view mirror when you drive? I am sure you would crash in no time. But we keep looking into the rear view mirror while driving through our lives! No doubt we crash out fast and furious.

Forget the past. Put it behind you. Create a truly big picture of your future life. Don't hold yourself back. Use all your higher faculties. Imagination, intuition. Give them a free play. Give your thoughts a free rein. And then watch the fun.

In the Science of Getting Rich one of the most powerful concepts is the Law of Attraction Accelerator. What exactly is this? Looks complicated and difficult isn't it? You can't be further from the truth. It is actually a very simple principle. What do you do when you speed up on the road? Do you look here and there at the scenery? A normal person would concentrate on the road ahead. Now, using this analogy what would you do if you want to speed up on your way to wealth and success. FOCUS. Yes, that is exactly what I would do.

Once you have made up your mind and have the big picture in your mind, go for it. Don't hesitate. Don't look around. Go right ahead with the gas pedal hitting the floor.

It looks so simple. Yet most of us flounder on the way. As soon as we see the first bump on the road, we lose heart and change direction. And when we meander all over the place, we wonder how we got there in the first place.

The Law of Attraction is universal. If you have positive thoughts they would get absorbed by the universe and rebound back manifold. The same goes for negative thoughts. Remember, the universe is neutral. Like a mirror. If you send out negative signals, you will see negativity reflected around you. So you have to be careful. Always think positively. The more you think positively, more positive things will happen to you. And it will all add up.

And focus is all important. Imagine your mind to be a lens. When you hold the lens against the light, what happens? It collects all the dispersed light and points it at one specific point. And then it burns the patch you are holding the lens on. Don't you think the same is happening to your thoughts? Indeed it is. The more focused you are, more likely you will set a scorching pace towards success. Get rid of negativity. It disperses your energy. Get hold of positive thoughts by the scruff of the neck and keep twisting till the essence is realized.

People don't earn $50,000 a year because they want $50,000 a year. They earn $50,000 a year because they're not aware of how to earn $50,000 a month.

Now awareness is very important. Most of us are operating from a very low level of awareness. We simply don't understand the law of the universe, Law of Attraction. No wonder our performance is below par. Stop for a moment and think. Human beings are at the very top of the evolution ladder. We are in fact capable of doing much more than any other animal. Why is that? Is it because of our physical strength? There are animals which are far bigger and stronger than us. For that matter, human beings are one of the weakest among animal species. Then how is it that we have been so successful. Isn't it because of our awareness?

Awareness about who we are and what we are capable of is the single factor which separates us from others. We are capable of much more than our physical structure suggests. We are able to multiply our strength by using tools. These tools are a product of our mind. Without our mind and ingenuity, nothing would have been possible. Now what more evidence do we require to prove the might of our minds?

Let me take this argument a little further. What would have happened, if we had not invented the wheel? Surely, the civilization would not be as it exists today. And how was the wheel invented? Most probably by a man who was aware of the strength of his mind and a firm faith in his capabilities. With this simple tool the human civilization took a steep upward turn.

Not to suggest that we all have to reinvent the wheel, so to say. We have to be aware of our strength and constantly evolve new and exciting ways to become prosperous. Remember, only our mind is a barrier to richness and glory. Break the shackles of the mind, become aware of your true self and reap the ensuing benefits.

Detaching from the outcome of what we desire is, in my opinion, the trickiest and most difficult manifesting step to master. Here's the dilemma that I'm sure you've run into, first, you identify what you want. Okay, I want "a beautiful garden" for example. Then, you imagine what it would feel like when you have this beautiful garden. You imagine how relaxed you'll feel kicking back and enjoying the beautiful view; you imagine how wonderfully fresh and inviting the aroma of jasmine, honeysuckle and gardenias will be as they take turns blooming throughout the year; you imagine how the sound of birds playing, hummingbirds spinning and squirrels chasing each other around your garden oasis lifts your spirits and instantly makes you feel inspired and in awe of life.

You imagine sipping your favorite beverage while breathing in the fresh air and relaxing deliciously into your achievement.

Now, you're flying high even though you haven't begun to break dirt. You plan to go to the store to purchase some flowers tomorrow and thereby begin the physical part of your manifestation. You wake up feeling inspired only to discover that a late snowstorm is headed your way and spring will be postponed for another two weeks or longer.

You wait two weeks; only to discover that this is going to be the wettest spring in history and you can't get into the garden to start digging without being swept away with the rain. You continue to wait it out; only to get to the nursery and everything is so outrageously priced you can only justify affording one small, rose bush that you feel probably won't make it a week!

Okay, the power of imagining your ideal garden is not completely wasted but the disappointment, however slight, resulting from what we judge as one set back after another is certainly an indication that our attachment to what we want is preventing us from having it.

On the other hand, if we choose to refuse to judge anything as wrong, but instead choose to assume the best, then we will be maintaining our vibration while remaining detached. For example, assume the snowstorm is the Universe ensuring you will plant in perfect timing to be able to enjoy your garden for the longest, desired time possible.

Assume the rain is there to wash the bad soil away, leaving beautifully irrigated, nutrient rich soil ready for your artistry. Assume a plant sale is about to be held somewhere and you're not meant to buy anything overpriced today because then you'll miss out on what you really, really want.

One technique that I use with great success for detaching is to completely surrender to the worst-case scenario.

For example, when the snowstorm shows up I would say:

"Okay, if it's meant to be that the worst case scenario happens here and I don't get to plant in time for my favorite flowers to bloom, then so be it. It'll be okay. I know that there's a divine plan in store for my desires and I relax into this plan. I surrender to the snow never clearing up. I surrender to my worst fears coming true. And, so what?!? I'll still survive and it'll all be okay!" And, then I'd say, "And, what I want is to feel, wonderfully relaxed in my beautiful garden. And, I enjoy so much imagining my garden that it doesn't matter if I ever get it or not. However, what I want is to feel the flowers and the dirt in my hands. What I want is to invite friends and family over to enjoy it with me. I see this happening now, in perfect timing and I relax!"

To surrender does not mean to resign. Surrendering is nothing like resignation. You are simply realigning yourself with the knowledge that the Divine Order of life is at hand and you are at peace with it now.

You will know you are detached when you feel "at peace" no matter what the manifestation and you feel faithful and content that in perfect timing all that you desire already is and will be yours.

1.) Not being in alignment - You must be in alignment with what you do want. To be in alignment with your desires is not always easy. Let’s say that you have a desire to attract twenty thousand dollars but you are flat broke, most everything in your environment speaks poverty. You may be wishing and hoping but everything in your being feels like ten dollars rather than twenty thousand dollars. Your objective then should be to find a way to begin to feel like you are worth twenty thousand dollars. This is the first and most crucial step to activating the law of attraction.

2.) Lack of Focus –This is another hindrance to manifesting what you desire. In order to get the universe to move what you want into your physical reality you must begin to hold a clear and steady focus of what you want all times through out the day.

3.) Lack of power with intent – The one thing which generates power with your intention is emotion and feelings. In order for the law of attraction to work quickly with your desires you must first know with great certainly that you do want what you are asking for and you must begin to feel it very deeply. If there are slight feelings of doubt those doubts will work as barriers affecting the attraction process from going in your favor.

4.)Not knowing how reality works – The law of attraction is one of several laws that assist you in manifesting what you desire. There are other laws which cancel out your intention if you are not aware of them or how they work. Manifesting your desires requires that you learn all the necessary parts to get great success with attracting what you want.

5.) Surrounding yourself with people or things which contradict what you are creating - This is by far one of the most difficult parts to successfully applying the law of attraction. You see other people’s beliefs and doubts can greatly hamper your ability to manifest what you want. Those people could be family members, co-workers or friends. The universal law of attraction moves on vibration and other people’s vibration can have a great effect on your own personal vibration causing you to attract based on the vibration of the group you are sounded by.

As you can see there are many parts to the attraction process not all being fully understood by most people.

Employment Law Training Suggests Employers Offer Alternative Jobs Before Redundancies.

Several tips and pitfalls for employers regarding offering and moving employees to new jobs as an alternative to making staff redundant. Employment law training offers UK businesses the full picture of options when axing staff looms.

Employers facing a round of tough redundancies should consider offering staff alternative jobs instead.

In today’s increasingly competitive marketplace, some employers may well find they face tough decisions, with the harsh reality being that they have no option but to make some of their workers redundant.

This is obviously a difficult situation, but one which more and more companies are faced with as the economy struggles to cope on the verge of a possible recession.

But have you considered all the options – don’t just jump in straight away and take the drastic step of axing staff without exploring every other possible approach.

Could you for instance minimize the impact of your difficult position by finding alternative roles for those staff within your organisation instead? It may take time to work this out and solve the jigsaw puzzle of moving people around between different departments, but it could be well worth the patience and effort.

This approach though may seem to be the perfect solution, and could save you from the dreaded redundancy announcement.

But employers need to make sure they stay on the right side of the Employment Rights Act 1996 when it comes to managing the process.

You don’t want to find that simply by trying to help your employees, you are contravening the rules and getting your company into trouble.

The Employment Appeal Tribunal has also set out new guidelines to explain how you should manage the offer of an alternative job and there are definitely pitfalls you need to avoid.

Employers should offer the person a trial period in the new potential job, usually four weeks is the right kind of timescale as it will give you, and them, the chance to carefully assess whether it’s a suitable move.

Communicate clearly to the employees involved how the trial period for an alternative job will operate, right from the start – don’t leave them in any doubt about where they stand.

Ensure they know that if they want to turn down the new job, they must do it within the four-week period, because if they don’t, and the four-week deadline passes without a formal decision, they could forfeit their right to a statutory redundancy payment.

Make sure too that any proposed alternative employment is actually suitable for the employee involved, and not just a position where you happen to have a vacancy.

Offering your staff a job which you know will be beyond their skills or totally out of their remit could put you at risk of an unfair dismissal claim.

It’s completely understandable that bosses should want to try to help their staff, particularly if they’ve been with your company a long time, but make sure you’re operating within the guidelines, and that an alternative job offer really is appropriate.

You don’t want to make a difficult situation even worse by raising their hopes of avoiding the axe with a possible new job offer, only to find that it’s not right for you or them, and they are faced with being made redundant after all.
