Unfortunately the majority of human beings on our lavish little green planet are not content with their 'lot' in life. They are living lives of low-key anguishdissatisfied with their interpersonal relations, jobs or personal wealth.
What is the main reason for this unhappiness? The central reason I believe this is so is due to a lack of comprehension about the nature of our world which can be precisely linked to our thought programming from childhood.
As a kid we begin to replicate the thought patterns of our peers. A person's beliefs and values are often passed from parent to parent until a person down the generations either has a life-changing experience or on a conscious level removes parts or changes their belief system.
Your beliefs and values predestine your focus and a key point I make in all my writings on personal development is the simple truth that "your focus determines your reality". Focus sets the path of the Law of Attraction.
The inner talk and imaginings of your mind are guided by your focus and your focus is reflected in your thinking. Your thinking becomes mechanical and therefore this becomes your unconscious creation system.
If you are not at this very minute living the life that is in alignment with your wants it is due to your inner unconscious creation system being out of alignment with your desires. Simplified this is more simply said as: Your focus is on what you do not want instead of what you do want!
Let us say you have payments due coming from everywhere and can't pay them. When you receive post through the mail what is your first thought? I'm sure it goes somewhat like this, "just what I expected more bills". Where do you think your focus being placed?
Why do the wealthy get wealthier and the less advantaged get more disadvantaged? Well a rich man has riches and he knows it is his already. He sees wealth all around him. The poor person sees lack and concentrates on it. Can you see the contrast in mental attention?
Now there are there are 2 basic methods to redirect your focus. The initial method is to alter your beliefs so that your focus becomes more unconcious but in the direction that is more in alignement with your desires. The next method is to deliberately redirect your attention to circumstances, people or events that reinforce new beliefs.
However this is often simplier to say than to do. For example take a look at the feelings, thoughts and beliefs of a person who has racial tendencies who thinks that he is better than another person due to his culture, skin colour, or ethnic beginings. I am sure you will agree that any normal person knows that these beliefs have no foundation in reality (subjective or otherwise). So in order to alter these beliefs, at a deep level, the racist would need to have some contact with other racial groups that have equal or better results in areas of their lives than he does. If he believes he is smarter then he would need to see that there are highly intelligent people of all ethnic backgrounds. If he believes that he is more likely to being successful because of his race then he would need to see that there are people of all origins who achieve success with ease. If he holds the view that he is more able to overcome obstacles than members of another race then he would need to know that people from all walks of life and different origins have achieved against seemingly insurmountable odds at great cost to themselves and so on!
The problem with this is how the person directs their focus! In the majority of cases the racist doesn't want to see such things. His focus is on the circumstances, people and life senarios that relate to and strengthen his beliefs! In extreme circumstances such a person will not permit himself to be in the company, correspond with, or listen about people of the group he is racist toward.
You and I do precisley the same thing everyday. If your life is similar today to yesterday, last week or last year it is entirely because your focus has remained the same. It is certain that your focus yesterday where the same as last week and if your thoughts and focus are the same today then you can expect the next day to bring the same results!
If your beliefs are called into question by that which you see, hear or experience many times you simply blank the information and continue 'blindly' believing what you have always believed. There is a natural tendency for us to filter our reality so that it reinforces our beliefs. It is necessary to need to break free from this self-imposed hypnotic trance and direct our focus on the things that will strengthen a new belief until we completely begin to belief it is real.
For example take a couple in a 'strained' relationship. Each one come home from work sure that they are going to have an argument with their other-half. Sure enough they arrive home and low-and-behold argue about who is taking the dog for a walk, what to watch on television or why they argue so much! Where is the focus in this relationship?
Perhaps they decide to try a new approch based on creating new beliefs and focus. They look at those areas that are working in their relationship. They talk about the reasons why they first became a couple and begin to reinforce the things they have in common. Their focus is beginning to alter. Although they will probably fall back into some old routines of arguing again if they keep their focus on common interests and the things in their relationship that are working can you guess what effect this will have on their relationship?
Try this little experiment yourself. Pick a person who annoys you in some way and that you can't avoid but would if the choice where yours. A work colleague is a good example. Can you think of one? OK, what are you focusing on about that person? I bet it is all the things that they do which annoy you the most. Try to think of something they do that you admire of that you like or that you admire about them. This can be difficult sometimes but remember that everyone has good and bad qualities so try not to be too polarised about people thinking them either entirely great or entirely evil - they are just people.
So, for a few days as best you can, try to focus on the things you like or admire about a person you are having trouble with and wait to see what happens.
Once you have succeeded at this small experiment try other little experiments in other areas of your life that you need to make better.

Six Common Mistakes Under Canadian Trade-mark Law
As more and more companies are seeking to distinguish their products and services in the marketplace by registering their names, slogans or designs as trade-marks, many companies which do not retain a Canadian lawyer or trade-mark agent often make fundamental mistakes. Among the most common mistakes are the following.
1. A Company Name is not a Trade-mark.
A company name is the legal name under which a company carries on business. However, unless the company name is used as a trade-mark, it cannot be registered under the Canadian Trade-marks Act. For example:
• Acme Insurance Ltd. markets life insurance under “Goodlife Insurance”. “Acme Insurance Ltd.” is the company name, “GoodLife Insurance” the trade-mark. “Acme Insurance Ltd.” is not used as a trade-mark, “GoodLife Insurance” is.
• Acme Insurance Ltd. markets life insurance under “Acme Life”. “Acme” is part of its company name, but it is also used as a trade-mark to distinguish its insurance policies from those of other insurance providers.
The important point here is that the registration of a company and the registration a trade-mark are two distinct processes. Federal and provincial company offices do not search the Trade-marks Office database to determine if a proposed company name is a registered trade-mark; nor does the Trade-marks Office search federal and provincial company offices to determine if a proposed trade-mark is registered as a company name. The two processes are unrelated, and the trade-mark must be registered separately.
2. There’s no Requirement to use a Trade-mark before Registering.
Many companies believe that they must commence use of their trade-mark before registering it. In Canada, as in many other countries, trade-marks may be filed on the basis of “intention to use”. An application which is filed on this basis must specify the products and services that the company intends to use in association with the trade-mark. Once the application has been filed, the company generally has three (3) years from the date of filing to file a Declaration of Use confirming the use of the trade-mark in association with the specified wares and services. The Declaration of Use may be filed anytime within the three (3) year period, but must not include any products and services that have not been used in association with the trade-mark.
3. Search before Using a Trade-mark.
It is always advisable to conduct a trade-mark search before commencing use of a trade-mark. This will ensure that the trade-mark does not infringe another trade-mark and will avoid the wasted expense of such things as advertising and labeling.
A trade-mark search may be conducted through the Canadian Intellectual Property Office Trade-marks database by inserting the trade-mark in the search text box and selecting the appropriate search field. If the search does not reveal an exact match, a secondary search should be conducted based on such factors as the elements of the trade-mark (where, for example, the trade-mark comprises more than one word), different spellings of the word(s) comprising the trade-mark and the sound of the trade-mark. This is referred to as a “comprehensive search” and is advisable to ensure that the trade-mark is not confusing with a registered trade-mark and therefore unregistrable.
4. Some Trade-marks are not Registrable.
Not all trade-marks are registrable. Among the trade-marks that are not registrable under the Canadian Trade-marks Act are:
• trade-marks that are clearly descriptive of the character or quality of the products or services,
• trade-marks that are deceptively misdescriptive of the character or quality of the products or services,
• trade-marks that are clearly descriptive or deceptively misdescriptive of the origin of the products or services,
• trade-marks that are the name of the products or services, and
• trade-marks that are confusing with a registered trade-mark.
There are a number of tests which have been developed by the courts which are employed by the Trade-marks Office in determining whether a trade-mark is registrable. In general terms, however, where an application for registration of a trade-mark falls within one of these categories, the trade-mark will not be registrable.
5. International Classifications Don’t Apply.
Products and services which are used in association with a trade-mark must be described in ordinary commercial terms. In many countries such as the United States this is done by using International Trade-mark Classes. The International Trade-mark Classes are categorized into 45 classes, Classes 1-34 relating to products and Classes 35-45 to services. Canada does not use this system and therefore trade-marks must be described in ordinary commercial terms for Canadian filing purposes.
For example, Class 32 refers to “light beverages” which are enumerated as: “beers; mineral and aerated waters and other non-alcoholic drinks; fruit drinks and fruit juices; syrups and other preparations for making beverages”. For Canadian filing purposes, the wares “non-alcoholic beverages” require further specification, for example carbonated drinks, colas, energy drinks, sports drinks, drinking water, fruit-based soft drinks, fruit juices, hot chocolate, milk, non-dairy soy, coffee or tea.
6. Copyright may reside in Trade-marks and must be Acquired.
Where a trade-mark is in the form of a design, the design will be subject to copyright protection, as well as trade-mark protection. If a trade-mark owner retains a graphic artist to develop and design a trade-mark, the trade-mark owner should obtain all rights to the design, including the ability to make changes to the design. This is generally done by means of a simple contract known as an “Assignment”.
In Canada, copyright need not be registered as rights to the design arise at the time of creation, which provides the copyright owner with remedies for copyright infringement at common law. These remedies are additional to the remedies that the trade-mark owner will have under the Canadian Trade-marks Act.

The Essence Of Employment Law
We work to live; we do not live to work.
As early as early adulthood, employment is one of this life’s major concerns. Actually, there are thousands federal laws and state statutes, administrative regulations and jurisprudence in the United States which deal with labor or employment law.
Employment law is very broad. But the most important specific areas include the following:
• Collective bargaining• Employment discrimination• Unemployment compensation• Pension• Workplace safety• Workmen’s compensation
COLLECTIVE BARGAINING
The National Labor Relations Act is the main law governing collective bargaining. It expressly gives employees the right to collectively bargain and join unions. It is applicable to most non-agricultural employees and employers who are engage in some aspects of intestate commerce.
Collective bargaining is composed of negotiations between the employees and the employer to determine the conditions of employment such as wages, work hours and compensation and benefits, among others.
Most states have laws, which further regulate collective bargaining and make collective agreements enforceable under state law.
EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION
Discrimination laws prohibit discrimination based on race, gender, religion, national or ethnic origin, physical disability, age and sexual preference by employers.Bias in hiring, promotion, job assignment, termination, compensation, and various types of harassment are discriminatory practices.
The Federal Constitution and some state constitutions give additional protection where the employer is a government agency or the government has taken significant steps to foster the discriminatory practice of the employer.
UNEMPLOYMENT COMPENSATION
This is insurance for those who are unemployed because they are terminated without the fault of their own. Monetary payments are given to terminated employees until such time that they find a new job.
PENSIONS
Employees continuously receive this monetary compensation from their employers even after retirement.
There are two main forms of pensions, they are:
• defined benefit plan• defined contribution plan
Defined benefits plan is based on the length of the employee’s service and his wages.Defined contribution plan is based on the employer’s regular deposit into an account secured for each employee.
WORKPLACE SAFETY
Workplace safety laws establish regulations designed to eliminate personal injuries and illnesses from happening in the workplace. These laws are primarily composed of federal and state statutes.
The Occupational and Safety Health Act (OSHA) is the main law which protects the health and safety of workers in the workplace. It is Congress which enacted this law.
All private employers who are engaged in interstate commerce are subject to the regulations promulgated under OSHA.
WORKMEN’S COMPENSATION
For those who are injured or disabled on the job, these laws give them fixed monetary award as a matter of right without the need of an action in courts.
Under these laws, dependents of workers who were killed while working or suffered work-related illnesses and died will also be given benefits.
While majority of these laws can be considered pro-employees, some were also designed to protect employers by limiting the amount an injured employee may received from the former.
