Yoga in Practice - The Law of Attraction

By Paul Jerard
How does Yoga relate to the "Law of Attraction?" We often hear about the universal concept of attraction, but how many of us are aware of it as it happens throughout the day? Let's take a closer look at our Yoga practice and how we influence the world around us with our thoughts.
Most people feel that actions and words are all that counts. If they think negative thoughts, they assume there will be no repercussions. Yet, negative thoughts create pessimism and influence the outcome of daily situations, for the worst.
If we worry about something long enough, we can influence the end result for the worst. The exact opposite can be said for positive thoughts. Sometimes, the eternal optimist is oblivious of anything, but a good outcome. We must control what we think at all times. Below are a few methods, which can change your life for the best.
Start your morning with a smile, meditate, and give thanks for the blessing of each day. Appreciate the sounds of your family, a bird's song, and the steady noise of daily life. Never be the person who complains about the weather. This is an imperfect world, but there is still so much to appreciate.
Create a positive affirmation of your own. This is similar to mantra, but much different. If you feel stressed out, you should think, "I look for and find solutions within stressful situations." This may seem very simplistic and a bit silly to some.
Yet, how many people react to stressful situations with headaches, rapid heartbeat, muscle tension, chest pain, backaches, insomnia, and more ailments? When stress makes you ill, it is unlikely that you will find solutions during a crisis.
Mantra is also valuable, because you block the external signals of stress, with internal sounds of peace. However, if you are in a social environment, a self-created positive affirmation, in your native language, may help you to create a solution to a cycle of stress.
Almost every form of Yoga practices mantra and positive affirmation. If you practice these Yogic methods regularly, you can quell pessimism from within. This is only half of the solution. The other half is to permanently instill positive energy within your mind.
In your free time, meditate on positive feelings. Get to know which images, in your mind, create happiness. It could be God, a spiritual center, a loved one, a pet, your favorite vacation spot, or a beloved teacher.
Regardless of what makes you happy, learn to envision it at any time, and summon into action, all the happiness that comes with it. Kindness and happiness is how a Yoga practitioner can master the power of attraction.

Debunking Six Law of Attraction Myths

By Victoria Nelson
1. The Law of Attraction is based on Spiritual Beliefs and only suited to people from a Spiritual background.
Many people who learn to utilise the Law of Attraction in their lives come from a spiritual background and invoke the Universe, God, Angels or other beings. However, holding spiritual or religious beliefs is by no means a prerequisite to utilising the Law of Attraction to make your dreams a reality. I believe that the Creation Process should be as universally appealing as possible, so that everybody can tap into the flow of creative power. This creative power is hard-wired in all human beings and we need to be tapped on the shoulder and reminded that we have it. Spiritual people may view this as a spiritual process, where the deity of their choice is guiding them. A logical person may view this as a psychological process, whereby they learn to harness the power of their sub-conscious via positive affirmation and visualisation. The scientist may view this as a scientific process whereby we attract positive or negative energy like a magnet. As long as you have faith in the process, it doesn't matter where your background lies, you will all get the same great results!
2. You must consume many different books, CDs and DVDs to learn the Creation Process.
There is an awful lot of material available about the Law of Attraction, every new publication promising to reveal something further and deeper about the process. However, this only serves to make people confused about which is the most effective or the 'right' method. In turn this confusion leads to stress and panic which attracts more confusion, stress and panic in other areas of their lives. What we have identified is that there are easily applied core principles. When this process is followed, the only possible outcome is manifestation of your vision!
3. You need to hold yourself in a place of permanent joy for the Law of Attraction to work in your favour.
Joy is an absolutely blissful state of being, but even people who have undertaken a lot of self improvement work will struggle to maintain this state constantly. The myth that one needs to stay in a place of joy to manifest their visions into reality can be a huge stumbling block for some. It is obvious why - you create your goal and is then are told that you need to hold your emotions in a place of permanent joy. Then because you cannot, you start to feel inadequate, stressed and in a state of panic once again. Then before you know it, you have totally forgotten about the Law of Attraction, or written it off as a failed experiment. It is true that the higher your emotional vibrations are, the faster your goals will manifest, but sometimes, with the pressures of the world around us, we are going to feel less than joyous no matter how many affirmations you repeat. During the more difficult times, if you can continue to hold yourself in alignment with your vision and stay in a place of positivity then you are still doing everything you need to do in order to make it a reality. If there are times when you cannot do this, it is better just to be aware of your feelings and do not resist them, as what you resist persists. Just make sure that you pro-actively do things that bring you happiness in order to start bringing your mood back upwards towards positivity and joy.
4. You need to learn to meditate for the process to be effective.
Meditation can be an extremely beneficial component in the Creation Process, as it allows you not only to take relaxation time for yourself but also to quiet your thoughts to make way for your inner guidance to be heard. Many Law of Attraction teachers recommend to set aside at least 15 minutes per day to concentrate on meditation and visualisation, but what if you find it too challenging? Personally, I find sticking to regular meditation a real challenge - I am a high energy, activity focussed person and normally when I sit down and bring myself into a state of deep relaxation, I normally fall asleep! At first this was of concern to me, but over time I realised that my body, mind and spirit will tell me what they need, so I need not put any pressure on myself. Instead - when I get the urge to meditate, I do so, and normally enjoy it immensely. Otherwise I like to make time for myself in other ways, like a warm bath, curling up with a good book or taking a walk outdoors. It is vital that you take relaxation time for yourself, as it refreshes you and lifts your mood (pointing you firmly in the right direction for manifestation of your goals) - but you must do activities which bring you joy, not what others stipulate. Enjoy!
5. To receive guidance from the Universe, you need to cleanse yourself by giving up coffee, cigarettes, alcohol, sugar or become a vegetarian.
Well if this were the case then we wouldn't have even heard of the Law of Attraction, let alone be teachers of it! Seriously though, there is a school of thought that says that to receive guidance from the Universe and make the Law of Attraction work, you must cleanse yourself internally with strict detoxification. I agree wholeheartedly that a a healthy person is a happy person, and that we should treat our bodies with the utmost respect, but that deprivation will only lower our mood, not uplift it. If eating meat, having a morning coffee or a glass of wine with dinner bring you happiness, then rest assured that your consumption of these things will not affect the Creation Process. Some people feel better when they give up coffee or alcohol, if this is you then go ahead! But if you are not suffering ill effects (and studies show that small amounts of alcohol and caffeine can be beneficial to mental and physical well being) then please enjoy life! A vital part of the Creation Process is keeping your emotions as high and your resistance as low as possible, so enjoy the things that make you happy -guilt free!
6. Using the Law of Attraction in my life means that I will lose control.
We Law of Attraction teachers tell you to clarify your desires and then let go and hand them over to the Universe. Anything in your life which is contradictory to your desires (for example being in debt when you wish to create abundance), we teach you to give as little worry and attention to as possible. But what if handing over to the Law of Attraction makes us feel like were are handing over control of our lives? Whenever we make life changes (and some of the work that we do with eliminating limiting beliefs can mean huge attitude shifts for our clients), the old will always try to reassert itself before it disappears forever. You can spot an experienced Law of Attraction practitioner by their serene detachment from their desires. It isn't because they don't care, but because they trust that the Universe will deliver. It always does. Walk with faith and trust (even if you have to continually ask for more faith at first) and this sense of losing control will soon pass.
In conclusion, if you take one thing from reading this article it is DO WHAT FEELS GOOD FOR YOU! There is a lot of information available on the subject of the Law of Attraction - some of it will resonate with you and some of it will not. The trick is to practice what makes you joyful and to disregard what tips you into the negative emotional spectrum, since the Universe can deliver far more easily to someone who is open and happy than to someone who is pressured and anxious.Vicky Nelson is a founding director of Mindfuel. Are You in Compliance? California's New Sexual Harassment Law AB1825

By Rhonda Goetz
I was speaking recently at a business network meeting when a business owner asked whether she needed to be concerned with California's new Sexual Harassment law, AB1825. This business owner runs her company with 18 full-time, 20 part-time employees, 8 temp workers, and 5 sales subcontractors who are located in several states.
Requirement: 50 + employees
On the surface it appears that she does not meet the 50+ employee requirement that determines whether she must train her supervisors. Taking a closer look at the law, however, reveals that temporary service workers and independent contractors, regardless of where they are located are included in the total count of employees.
Requirement: Training must encompass all aspects of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation.
The training must address retaliation and: sex, race/color, religion, age, and national origin harassment and discrimination. Typically previous trainings did not include these areas.
Another business owner wanted to know whether or not they could continue to train in the same manner as the previous year's training.
Requirement: A system in place to track and document employee participation and compliance
The answer is maybe yes, maybe no. If the training included all forms of harassment and discrimination AND tracked employee participation throughout the training (not just through sign in/out sheets) AND assessed their understanding of the material AND you can provide proof, then yes, continue to train as in previous years.
A business owner, one on a very tight budget, commented "it is good that I only have to train 5 supervisors, because I can't afford to train more."
Requirement: Businesses must provide a harassment-free workplace for everyone
With this in mind, how harassment-free will the workplace be if this owner only trains the supervisors? . And if a claim is made by the employee, will the money saved by training only supervisors, be enough to pay for attorneys, lost production time, and/or punitive damages? Probably not.
Conclusion:
Regardless of the number of employees, location of employees, or previous training, employers need to both protect their company from harassment and discrimination claims and comply with the law. Ensure that your company is protected by training all employees in harassment and discrimination prevention.
