In addition to the laws related to compensation, there are other laws that regulate use of asbestos containing materials. The asbestos and Mesothelioma Cancer Law forbids an employee to be exposed to levels of asbestos that exceed 0.1 fiber per cubic centimeter (f/cc) during an eight hour work day or one f/cc in any given thirty minute period. The law further lays for employers to monitor asbestos exposure in regulated work areas, ensure training in asbestos working, and provide proper hygiene, respiratory and clothing protection. The law also provides compensation for personal injuries indicted due to other’s negligence.
